Hi all, new member here! Thought you might like to know the Sunday Mail up here in Scotland has a story today that Andy may soon be raking in £1 million in sponsorships. They are quoting Play Station 2 and McDonalds, amongst others, as being interested in sponsoring him. They report that a deal should be sorted out in the next four weeks. Sounds along the right lines of what I've heard.
Hi Dashers, welcome to the message board. Very interesting news about sponsorships. Should make things a lot easier for Andy so hopefully he can afford a full-time fitness trainer. Andy is already sponsored by Robinsons and Fred Perry clothing in case you didn't know.
I read that 'The Sun' had tried to sponser Murray during Wimbledon but he already had his full quota of sponsers so they decided to sponser Mark Petchy's head instead. The article said that although Murray is commited to his current sponsers there are clauses in his contracts that increase the payments as his performances improve.
I would like to see him stay with RBS, a partnership between a world class Scottish company and hopefully a world class scottish sportsman would make a lot of sense. I certainly think they would be better than McDonalds.

I would like to see these big sponsors help the players that really need it
Eg this week at Tipton say you are a qualifier and make 1/4 final that's 5 nights in a hotel £350 ( share £175 ) return travel 80
Food drinks /stringing £100 = £355
I have not included costs of coaching /physio /kit
Well, in July 2005 when the thread was started, Andy was just 18, showing masses of potential, and needed sponsorship to take him up to the heights he has now acheived. But I agree in general it would be good if the big sponsors spread their money around more - the snag is, big sponsors want big results almost guaranteed: they are in it for the advertising potential rather than goodness of heart.
I'm sure this must be on this forum somewhere but I can't find it so, at the risk of appearing an idiot (no harm done!), does everyone know that Andy has signed with Lagadere ? Several articles about it but here's one with quite a lot of detail:
