RE: Week 20 - WTA International 220k - Strasbourg (Clay)

Cav is broken straight back, not helped by 3 DFs, but breaks again. *2-1.

Evtimova was serving for the match, but Naomi has broken back *4-5. Good fighting.

Unfortunately, just like in the first set, Cav loses her serve in the 10th game.
4-6 4-6 cry

But she could have had an opportunity to tank against Bally, which would have been more patriotic  wink.gif

54 points to 44 points and 6 break points not taken.

So closer than the scoreline suggests.

From Naomi's coach: "Naomi lost 6-4,6-4 very disappointing as it was a great opportunity but another 3 matches on clay. Off to Paris now, 1st match on Wednesday."

Should also be a new CH next Monday too to soften the blow.

I've just seen Bally's tweet. Guess which qualifier she's drawn?

I don't think so, unfortunately - she has 14 points coming off from Tanjung Selor c.f. 10 to get added from her run here.

She has quite a few 8s in her total already, so the 8 points she got last week won't make any difference.

I'm hoping that if Cav maintains her points, players like Voskoboeva (Warsaw 120 points) and Kutuzova (Strasbourg 146 points), won't be able to defend their points and will drop below Cav. What I've not considered is players below her who might leapfrog her with good results this week. Fingers crossed.
