The criteria for Wimbledon wild cards last year was to exclude players who were in their final year of juniors, so going by ranking Luke would be 6th in line next Monday.
well weatherhe gets a MDWC or not, a QWC is surely going to be offered to him and kyle, bare minimum, plus also after this tournament luke still has two more unused scoring tournaments, difficult to say what his actual ranking is atm
An excellent tournament for Luke (who incidentally admitted in an interview after the Eddie Herr title to nicknames of bambo and bambino), with his toughest test to date against someone who won a couple of rounds in the Eddie Herr U18 last year, before losing to Ollie
Regarding Wimbledon wildcards the announcement which has been made is that "A combination of the following factors will be taken into account: ATP and ITF ranking; results and relevant ranking progress in relation to age in recent months; age / potential and performances at Roehampton ITF"
Although they shut the door on the 1991 boys last year, I think that was based on an assessment of potential in relation to younger boys, with a lot of 1992 boys inside the top 250. I expect there will be some flexibility this year as in most previous years, as there are only 3 younger boys currently inside 250 (Liam Broady, Andrew Bettles, Robert Carter)
Luke's ranking after this event will be somewhere in the 400s, slightly better than Liam's at the same time last year. Liam was given a QWC last year, which he took full advantage of to qualify for the main draw.
Yes, especially with the context David sets out, it does seem to me that at least a QWC should surely be a reasonable expectation for both Luke and Kyle given their age and progress.
Good stuff by Luke here and all the best in the final.
