Boys: 27th International Tournament of Salsomaggiore, Italy - Grade 2 (Week 17)

A quiet couple of weeks on the junior front but Liam Broady appears to have made it to Italy, after missing out on being top seed in Bulgaria last week presumably because of travel problems.  Unfortunately the first seed he is down to meet is the in-form Alessandro Colella, winner in Cap D'Ail (the only player to beat Carlos Boluda-Purkiss in the 3 French tournaments)

R1 (L64)

(16) Liam Broady (GBR) Bye

R2

(WC) Thiago Moura Monteiro (BRA) v (16) Liam Broady (GBR)

This is a potential banana skin for Liam, as the young Brazilian had two big wins in the Copa Gerdau - one against a top 20 player.

A good win for Liam, but he will need another to progress in this tough section of the draw

R2

(16) Liam Broady (GBR) d. (WC) Thiago Moura Monteiro (BRA) 6-4 7-6(5)

R3

(4) Alessandro Colella (ITA) v (16) Liam Broady (GBR)

The inform Italian proved too good, though Liam did progress in the doubles with Stakhovsky Jr
