Googled and got : "Manta, Ecuador is located at -0.95 [latitude in decimal degrees], -80.7333 [longitude in decimal degrees] at an elevation/altitude of meters. The average elevation of Manta, Ecuador is 18 meters"
Further info advises it is a port, which rather explains all

Just about on the equator and at sea level. Guess it kind of explains why it is pretty hot as Jamie mentioned in interview.
Don't think though Jamie really minds much playing outdoors in the heat, bearing in mind also his Aussie performances last year. Must be a result of being brought up in such balmy Scottish climes
Riccardo Ghedin & Sebastian Rieschick (ITA/GER) lost to Greg Jones (AUS) & James Ward by 4 & 3
In the QF, they will face either the local pair, Julio César Campozano & Emilio Gómez, or, more likely, the top seeds, Martin Emmrich & Andreas Siljeström (GER/SWE).
He will play the winner of Guillermo Alcaide (ESP) WR 220 or qualifier Ivan Endar (ECU) WR 468
It will be the Ecuadorean qualifier, Iván Endara, who's just beaten the Spanish interloper by 6-2 6-7(3) 6-4. Dunno whether that's a good or a bad thing...
Great start to James's second-round match: broke Endara in the opening game, then held his own service & promptly broke Endara again! *3-0. Hope he can keep the momentum going...
And James breaks to 40 in the third game of the second set to take an early lead: *2-1. Looking good for the QF & at leaat 15 points as things stand...
