Week 15 - ATP Masters 1000 - Monte Carlo

http://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2010/410/mds.pdf

Andy seeded 3rd and will face a dangerous second round clash against either Bellucci or Kohlschreiber.

Melzer is the seed in Andy's section and he is seeded to face Ljubicic (more likely Ferrer) in the quarters and Rafa in the semis.

If Andy gets as far as the semis ( and quite probably Rafa ) I will be delighted.

people are too worried about bellucci, common, andy's achievements on clay are far more impressive than his, this is a standard master series draw

It will be Kohlschreiber who plays Andy in the second round after he beat Bellucci 2-6 6-3 7-6(3).

Well, I think Kohlschreiber should certainly give a good test of where Andy is just now.

He's no mug on clay and beat Ferrero and Djoko on the way to the last 16 of the French Open last year.

So what sort of Andy is going to confront him ?

After the way Andy took him apart at the Hopman Cup Andy even in his current form should win that one.

Hmm,  a non ranking tournament on a different surface with probably quite a different Andy.

Anyway, I'm not saying Andy won't win, though I don't feel comfortable about the match, especially if Kohlschreiber plays towards his best.

And, if he does ease past Kohlschreiber, no problem, I will of course then say that it's a renewed Andy as compared to IW and Miami   wink.gif

Andy not on the OoP for Tuesday, which for singles is a mixture of the remaining 1st round matches and a few 2nd round matches.

By the look of it, one who still hasn't sorted out his mental attitude:  he's a break down already, *1-3! hmm  And beware the Germans.  If he does emerge from the match the winner, he'll have to face Philipp Petzschner, who dumped out Melzer (15) by 7-6(2) 6-2! disbelief

Last time Andy lost 3 matches in a row was nearly 4 years ago. Lost to Blake in Hamburg, Monfils at RG then Tipsy at Queens in 2006.

Very worrying that he doesn't seem to have made a real step-up, which I always thought he would have to here.

All things being equal, if he's losing to Fish in Miami, he's losing to Kohlschreiber in Monte Carlo.
