Boys: City of Florence International Tournament, Italy - Grade 2 (Week 13)

After struggling on hardcourts and recently pulling out of Futures events Tom Allen returns to action on his favourite surface of clay. He is down to play a series of European junior events, trying to make the cut for Roland Garros.

R1 (L64)

(5) Tom Allen (GBR) bye

R2

Gijs Linders (NED) v (5) Tom Allen (GBR)

The Dutch player's record suggests Tom should win if he can repeat his clay-court form from last year, but no match is easy when you haven't won one for 4 months.

R2

(5) Tom Allen (GBR) d. Gijs Linders (NED) 6-1 6-2

R3

(5) Tom Allen (GBR) d. (9) Robert Rumler (CZE) 6-1 6-3

QF

(5) Tom Allen (GBR) d. Lucas Szewczyk (FRA) 7-6(2) 6-2

SF

(1) Damir Dzumhur (BIH) d. (5) Tom Allen (GBR) 6-0 6-0

Tom's fourth Grade 2 semi on clay, so a good tournament slightly marred by the heavy defeat in the semi

Rumler has caused some out guys trouble in the past iirc so that was a nice win - always godt to see wins over GEM juniors on clay too
