This is something of a rarity - a high grade African junior tournament not in one of the Mediterranean countries or South Africa. The reason appears to be that Nigeria is hosting the African Junior Closed Championships next week (hence the tournament title). A quartet of Brits made it here trying to take advantage of a weak Grade 2 field to earn good points, with Laura Deigman finding herself seeded.
Laura's second round match is against her doubles partner, who she lost to in India earlier in the year.
