RE: Week 10 - ATP 1000 - BNP Paribas Open, Indian Wells

Djokovic beaten Kohlschreiber  6 -3  2 - 6  7 - 6 ( 3 )  in spite of managing to lose  nine games in a row from  6 - 3  2 - 0 and from facing at least 3 match points since I know he was 5 - 4  40 - 0 down ( on his own serve ) in the 3rd set.

Well, he certainly should do. But then he might take another opportunity to experiment. . .

Even so, Russell is no Tipsy and it would be VERY surprising if Andy did not win this. OK, Russell has beaten a seed in Andreev, but it was the very lowest seed (32) and Andreev is famously flaky.

Go Andy!

Murray should have no trouble with Russell and it would be a very poor loss if he did lose to him, but he has struggled in the past with an early start.

Still, anything other than a straight sets thrashing would be a disaster and a similar kind of scoreline to the Seppi match is expected.

This event is there for the taking as there is not one of the top player who is playing that well... Federer has the look of a man who will tank at some point, Nadal is still struggling to find his best, Murray was pretty bad against Seppi, and Djokovic has played nine bad matches in a row and won them all, so logic dictates he will lose at some point, while all the other big names are out.

Muzza *5-4 Seppi - 3 breaks to 2, they're clearly getting confused by sharing this tournament with WTA ...

Meanwhile, Kolya has apparently broken his wrist, leaving Viktor Troicki with the following arduous route to the 4th round:

R1: bye
R2: beat Cuevas 1-0 ret.
R3: beat Davydenko w/o

They don't call him Tricky Vicky for nothing!

Troicki for the title!

I wonder what the smallest number of games won to take a title is...

Troicki's next match is against Berdych who played brilliantly against Verdasco... which clearly sets him up for a shocker in the next round to follow it up.

I thought Russell was 2-0 against Jamie Baker - Waikoloa Challenger Final and Joplin Challenger SF, both in 2007 and both in straight sets. Have I missed one?

Not according to the ATP site. Could it have been in a Futures? I don't know where to find H2H for them.

http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head.aspx?pId=R368&oId=BA53 - ITF doesn't have any other meetings for them.

Er, yes, that is why I said "not according to the ATP site" but they don't show Futures.

Looks like the Muzzanator is awake this morning - broke Russell to love in game 1, held to love in game 2 with 3 aces and won the first point of game 3 before Russell got a point on the board! smile.gif

I think the supposed early start problem is well in Andy's past  smile

Anyway,  * 3 - 2

Mm,  Andy's first serve % at 40%  ( 10 / 10 when he's got his first serve in ) and Russell has had 3 break points.

Still  5 - 3 *
