Girls: Copa Milo Chile Deportes - Grade 2 (Week 7)

Last year Steph Cornish reached the final of a weak tournament here. This year's field is considerably stronger, with Jennifer Ren only just grabbing a low seeding. The first seed she is scheduled to meet is top 50 player Katarina Paliivets, though there is a useful Ukrainian blocking her path to that meeting.

R1 (L64)

(15) Jennifer Ren (GBR) v Nikita Meka (USA)

An easy start but her second round opponent, who also scored a double bagel should be much tougher

R1 (L64)

(15) Jennifer Ren (GBR) d. (LL) Chiara di Salvo Roque (ARG) 6-0 6-0

R2

R1 (L64)

(15) Jennifer Ren (GBR) v Ganna Poznikhirenko (UKR)

A long first set appears to have decided the match in Jen's favour, allowing her a crack at the second seed. There was an early exit in the doubles though.

R2

(15) Jennifer Ren (GBR) d. Ganna Poznikhirenko (UKR) 7-6(11) 6-2

R3

(15) Jennifer Ren (GBR) v (2) Katarena Paliivets (CAN)

Jen's best ever win in rankings terms, though the Canadian has not won many matches on clay. The Chilean she faces next (Fernanda Brito) has a better record on this surface.

Unfortunately Brito's better record on clay stood her in good stead cry

QF

Fernanda Brito (CHI) d. (15) Jennifer Ren (GBR) 6-3 6-3
