Robson cruised through the 1st set, It seemed to be only a matter of time before she broke in the 2nd but inexplicably suddenly lost her own service. She immediately broke back but was in turn immediately broken again and went on to lose the 2nd set. She looked to be struggling in the 3rd, lost her service to go 2-1 down and like the 2nd immediately broke back. It looked like a being a repeat of the 2nd when she dropped behind in the next game but rescued it to go 3-2 up. I missed the end but she must have pulled herself together and won 5 games in a row.
I followed this match through the commentary of a twitterer user who was sat right next to Laura's coach. Laura at one stage called out I hate this girl. This match turned when the score was 1-2 30-30 Laura down a break in the third set . Laura thought she had won the next point to set up a break point but unfortunately her cap had fallen off her head and the point needed to be replayed. The Russian girl was quick to explain the rules to Laura but it didn't help Putintseva in the slightest. The line judge started to call foot faults against her and she gave the break back with two double faults. She again served two double faults in her next service game to effectively give Laura an unasailable lead. Laura was by far the better player during most of the match but she was unsettled by the Russian girls antics.
Level again. Dinu broke on the basis of Laura not getting her first serve in. If she fixes that, she seems to be doing a much better job of returning Dinu's 1st serve.
Not impressive and after the very late match tonight tomorrow will be a big test to see if she can recover to put up a better performance. Hopefully just lack of focus today given the big match tonight.
