When the match was under control he really opened up his shoulders and attacked very well which was a pleasure to watch- hitting much flatter on each side and willing to finish at the net. If hes ever going to win a grand slam, thats how he needs to play to beat the best.
The top 10 can hit through Murray if hes too passive and thats how he loses matches.
Very similar to his performance at the Hopman cup. Hitting the ball very well but also not serving well enough. Needs to stay aggressive in the later rounds.
Meanwhile, Louk Sorensen, the first Irish player to play in the main draw of a slam for a quarter of a century since Matt Doyle (who once reached the L16 at the US Open, losing to John McEnroe, but played his last slam when he lost in R1 at the AO in 1985) has won the 1st set against Yen-Hsun Lu.
Louk has gone one better than his dad Sean, who played in the main draw at Wimbledon in 1977 and 1980 (when he was the same age as Louk is now) but failed to win a set. Getting drawn against Rod Laver in 1977 probably didn't help - he lost that one 0, 2 & 2.

Jonathan Overend on 5live has tweeted (and it's been put on the BBC site as well) - "The ITF confirms that Louk Sorensen is the first player representing Ireland to win a main draw singles match at a Grand Slam tournament"
Utter rubbish, as a quick look at the ITF's own site confirms. As I said earlier, Matt Doyle reached R4 of the USO in 1982 and won plenty of other slam MD matches in the 1980s - http://www.itftennis.com/mens/players/player.asp?player=10002234 It says on ITF that he switched from the USA to IRL, but he played DC for Ireland from 1981-88 (in the Irish DC 'dream team' of him and Louk's dad from 1981-87) so must have got most of those slam MD wins when he was playing for Ireland.

I know you all like your stats here so let me throw this one in.
This will be the first match Andy has played on an outside court at the AO prior to the round of 32 match against Chela in 2007. I don't know where Andy played the match before this.
The match against Chela was scheduled for MCA on the middle Saturday but it rained all day and the matched was moved to the Vodophone arena (now Hisense).
Since then Andy has played every match on Rod Laver or Hisense.
Thought I'd get something off my chest to start the day A little email to info@lta.org.uk :
Good morning,
Do your news article contributers always consider what they are writing are on they sometimes on auto-pilot ?.
Given, as you will be aware, that Andy had to have one of the top 2 seeds and one of seeds 3 & 4 in his half, I and others I have talked to about the draw absolutely fail to see that this is a tough draw ( or else all draws are tough and the phrase bexomes meaningless ). .
On both rankings and form surely Nadal & Del Potro are preferable to Federer and Djokovic. In no way certainly could they be thought to be worse. Even in last 16, Monfls (12) is ;lowest rank Andy could have been due to potentially face as the no 5 seed and again Monfils' form and fitness does not seem to make him the worst choice at all from seeds 9 to 12.
I am sorry but to me this just seemed a sloppy unthinking article, and I would expect better.
Yours sincerely,,
IIain Goodbrand
Edit : I hope they don't commnent on my own slight sloppiness in my email including my inability to spell my own name

All credit to an Adam Moulder chappee at the LTA for giving me a reply and for agreeing with me ( always helps ) re my comments on the LTA news item about Andy's so-called "tough draw" He is going to talk to the news writers.
Hi IIain
I completely agree. I read on the BBC website a similar sounding article and couldnt believe the pessimistic attitude towards the draw outcome. It looks promising so far, especially given Del Potro almost going out earlier today! However Djokovic has been off his game recently as well so one could suggest it better to be in his half than JMDPs. Still, we shall see, one round at a time and all that. I will talk to our news writers with your comments in addition to my own.
Best wishes,
Adam Moulder
