Laura's match against Sabine Lisicki starts at 2am GMT tonight, with Andy against Philipp Kohlschreiber and then the mixed doubles to follow.
Laura against Lisicki should be a fascinating match with two players who go all out for their shots, there should be plenty of winners/unforced errors.
Andy of course should win his match, because I should think we need to win at least one match tonight for a chance of progression.
The mixed doubles will be tougher, and Andy might actually need to let Laura hit a few balls this time.
Can't really see Laura currently getting too close to threatening Lisicki, Andy should win and so then comes down to the mixed which could go either way though I'd make Germany favourites for that and therefore the overall tie.
Quietly impressive by Laura in defeat. A marked improvement over her performance in the first match. Still lacking a bit of power on her first serve and served 10 dfs. But eventhough she was undone by a number of dropshots exquisitely played by Lisicki I see some real improvement in her movement ( still plenty to work on ). Lisicki sidestepped a question about Laura's ability in the post match interview which shows that it was a real test for her.
Thought both played very good tennis today. Murray in the 2nd set V Kohlschreiber was on fire. Think the set was over in 17 minutes and the last 3 games he served lasted 3 minutes between them.
Great to hear that Laura played so well. I wasn't at all confident that she'd get that close against Lisicki. And really good mixed doubles win, well I did say that could go either way
Laura played top 50 tennis today there is no doubt and based on this form is a cert to qualify for the Aussie open. Still struggles to take advantage of winning positions but fought very well in the second set which was very encouraging. Remember Lisicki is a top 10 player in the making and apart from an obvious power difference on service there was very little to choose between them in the baseline rallies. Laura moving so much better from side to side. Andy also is revelling in this experience and the mixed doubles was a delight to watch. On this form they will beat Russia in the doubles.
