Heather Watson should be the top seed here, and is our only direct entrant. Jessica Ren might have been given a Special Exempt. Neither of the Rens are in qualifying , as both were still playing doubles in Mexico when the draw was made.

Expecting good things from Heather here, what with it being held on the courts where she trains. Hopefully Jessica will get in too. In related news, according to the Daily Mail, Heather & Laura will be doubles partners in the AO.
I give Daneika the smallest of chances and Jess even less. When speaking to Jess's father at Sunderland recently he recalled a match Jess had had with Putintseva previously ( I couldn't see any evidence of this match on the web) but anyway he said that in a close match the Russian girl used all the mental tricks in the book to ensure she was a winner in that match. He didn't go into anymore detail. Putintseva who trains at the Paris academy has since gone onto nearly qualify for the ATP event in Luxembourg beating a top 100 player on the way.
