Two of Britain's bright young tennis talents are banned following incident in Spain
"Two of British tenniss brightest young prospects were sent home from a training trip to a Spanish tennis academy after police were called to an incident in the apartment block where they were staying.
Surreys Jack Carpenter and Lancashires former Orange Bowl winner George Morgan were forced to apologise to neighbours at their Barcelona digs, who complained after apple cores were thrown at them on their balcony.
They have also been banned from attending a junior tournament in Mexico ahead of this years Orange Bowl (the unofficial junior world championships) in Florida.
The incident will raise alarm bells due to the recent history of underachieving British juniors behaving badly, especially as Morgan, 16, and Carpenter, 17, are in the vanguard of an age group on whom the Lawn Tennis Association are pinning hopes to drag the domestic game out of its long-term slump.
There was an internal debate at the LTA about whether more of an example should be made and a lengthier ban enforced.
But one consideration was the desire of the governing body to field more players in next years junior Grand Slams, entry to which requires them to score points in significant junior events taking place next month."
Have we been here before?
It must be very difficult for the LTA management to make examples of these players when their own poor personal discipline record is well known to everyone! I suspect Mr Draper must be going through an anxious few days in which no doubt his profile will be kept to an embarrassing minimum.
