RE: ATP Tour Finals - Andy v Fernando Verdasco

Just what was being said A STITCH-UP  - Federer's tanking it. Dreadful format! It's never allowed in football.

this should not be allowed to happen, it's like a match being fixed at wimby, absolute disgrace!

Clearly not a fix though is it? Why would they have done things like let it get to 3-3 15-40 to Federer? It's just one of those things. Murray only has himself to blame for playing so poorly in the 3rd set vs Federer and tanking so many break points against Verdasco. Shame as I'm gutted he's out but hey well, roll on 2010.

Not a fix though and it's nothing like someone doing a Berlocq at Wimbledon (allegedly).

Tennis's worst day - all credibility is gone from tennis in this format.I've lost any remaining grudging repect for Federer. That last service game of Federer was all but thrown away by him. It's at the level of F1 racing or wrestling now.

Also if it is a fix then Potty is a very good actor.

O well, looks as if I should stick to commenting on juniors doh.gif No question of a fix though.

Hahahaha....what a laughable thing to say. Are you joking? Are you seriously insinuating that Federer, abacus in hand, proceeded to play the match specifically so that Juan Martin del Potro could make the semi-finals whilst ensuring his own progression? And this being despite the fact that del Potro's very possibly more of a threat than Andy is right now?

That's rather frustrating but its worth noting that federer had qualified before he reached 3-3 - he could have tanked it earlier than he did - but maybe he waited so it would be less sinister looking

A fix it surely is not. A tank, maybe. wink
