Natalie gained a top 8 seeding as a result of a couple of late withdrawals, including Mladenovic seeing sense, but hasn't been favoured with a good section. If she beats the young French girl, who has won her last two tournaments, she will probably have to overcome Lauren Davis. The American won around 40 consecutive matches, including against Timea Babos at the US Open, before Laura ended her run.
R2 (L32) Jennifer Ren v Karen Hernandez (MEX) (15) Danieka Borthwick v (WC) Caroline Garcia (FRA) (8) Natalie Beazant v Lauren Davis (USA) Francesca Stephenson v Michela Casanova (SUI) Joanna Henderson v (WC) Valeria Franco (MEX) (13) Jessica Ren v (WC) Katlin Rae (USA)
Natalie's win was even better than I originally thought, as Brouleau played the Poitiers qualifying tournament last month (100K + H) and had 2 match points against former world junior number 1 Arantxa Rus in the final round. Unfortunately it doesn't get any easier for her with Lauren Davis having come through as expected.
Jo's win is I think comfortably the best on ranking of her ITF Junior career. The Rens team up again in doubles and are seeded 7.
R3 (L16) Jennifer Ren v (1) Silvia Njiric (CRO) or (Q) Aissa Muamba (CAN) Joanna Henderson v (7) Marianne Jodoin (CAN) or (WC) Giuliana Olmos (MEX) (13) Jessica Ren v Ana Sofia Sanchez (MEX) or Huai-Hsuan Huang (TPE)
Jessica's section has opened up following the withdrawal of the 2nd seed.
Jess is our sole survivor in the Q/F's and has a winable match against Olmos who is ranked around 660 place lower although she has already beaten the No.7 seed A really good effort from Jennifer against the No1 seed whose world ranking is 9.
Jennifer Ren lost to (1) Silvia Njiric (CRO) 6-4 7-6(2) Joanna Henderson lost to (WC) Giuliana Olmos (MEX) 6-4 6-1 (13) Jessica Ren bt Huai-Hsuan Huang (TPE) 6-3 6-1
Q/F (13) Jessica Ren v (WC) Giuliana Olmos (MEX)
The Rens also got through the 1st round of the doubles dishing out a double bagel
Jess is the only one getting the sort of points which will move her forward a significant way towards the top 100. I hope she can reach her first Grade 1 semi, but the record of Olmos suggests she is of similar standard (her low ranking is because she has only played two junior ITFs, winning one and pushing a top 100 player in the other).
