RE: Week 47 - ITF ($25K) - Puebla, Mexico Hard

With the google translation it makes for an amazing read and shows just what Naomi has been through. Translation and mistakes in Italian make it quite a hoot !

Ah, I was cursing the Google thingy before for not properly dealing at all with my Spanish to English translation request  ashamed.gif

Anyway, I now have seen it in all its glory and I think it is worth documenting :

We do not think they can be denied by anyone if we define Puebla, the Mexican citizens who recently hosted a $ 25,000 women's event - as well as a male challenger? a kind of earthly paradise Naomi Broadly, British tennis player aged 19, who in this city? has focused more success? important of his career. Everything after being out of the circuit for over four months, due to a tendon problem misdiagnosed - that has really put in serious danger a career that appeared in the process of explosion up to 2 years ago. Before anything happened, a fact that his tennis has little to do, but that without the courts would not have even been a fact. And a small Odyssey began, so now, too long ago.

Let's go back to? Summer of 2007, Naomi could then claim the title of champion under-18 English, just as the season focused toward the warm period for British tennis: This grass. A Roheampton, junior tournament at Wimbledon before the sacred appointment, the Broadly showcase his tennis very suitable for fast surfaces, made of great service and very powerful straight. S? The Broadly we really knew to do. Pity that, in that? When she needed an injury, a small setback, however, enough to put her out of contention. The initial findings from the rich structures of LTA (the British Tennis Federation) undiagnosed anything definite, but the pain was so little perceptible Naomi continued its normal activities?, Becoming constantly monitored by doctors Federal. As one of the best players of his country, Broadly could count on the infinite resources of the LTA. That is until all? Autumn.

When an incident which happened around d? Suddenly changed his career: in the days when Tim Henman gave his farewell to tennis contrite, not the absence of a formal invitation to his young countrymen to get serious with the sport and to maintain a low profile and dedicated exclusively to the sport, in those moments appeared on a social network much in vogue among the young Anglo-Saxons (www.bebo.com) some pictures depicting our young tennis player and his other colleagues in unprofessional attitudes . Without wishing to descend into the depths of the gossip pi? vulgar, the photographs hung around, their sarcastic comments on particular all? more than worthy of an athlete by Broadly, especially on those concerning their eating habits.

The images were obscured to the public clearly does not want, so? In less than no time ended on the banks of the Federation, which lost no time issued a statement in which dissociates completely from its protected (now ex-protected: in addition to Broadly, including l? then 18 year-old David Rice). Distancing, in the person of its chairman Roger Draper, the LTA would not have been declaring that pi? permitted facilities to any of the tennis players have appeared in this bizarre photo set. Poor Broadly found himself cos? from one moment? from another? be one of the corners of the federation to public enemy number 1. Regardless of who was right, assuming that the reason was only one part, the behavior of Draper and associates seemed influenced by? Emotivit? created on? wave? flag Henman's farewell. Usually for? decisions taken on these occasions and never more? magazines do not lead to huge consequences.

Fact, the poor Broadly, abandoning its association, continues to experience these problems to the tendon, but the federation was not granting pi? the possibility? to use their facilities and the family of Naomi had enough money to be able to pay real specialists. So? any analysis carried out, such as that at the Bolton Tennis Center, not clear his head as to why? pain persisted. Although there? The young British took part in competitions, tournaments, alternating with periods of rest, why? frustration for? obvious physical abnormality did not allow major efforts continue. And c? Was surprising.

However, in 2009 began with an air of different and finally with results worthy of his caliber: how can we forget his first success as a professional hit in Grenoble in the first week of February and almost a given to Edinburgh a few months later? Besides there? many other small targets were centered resurrect this little star so hated by the federation, until the summer when you return to the limelight were the pains, now consolidated. After making a small break. Naomi decided it was necessary to go on a reading specialist: d? Other hand, the results achieved in the first half of the season gave l? Idea of a potential thrown to the winds.

In July, Naomi, his younger brother Liam? Class 1994, also budding tennis player? moved to Paris at the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy, where he alternated between a specific preparation for examination details. After two MRIs, arrived at last long-awaited response to what the problem was that gripped: a tear to the upper hamstring. Without going into technical details, the Broadly, however, could find the answer to all suffering, to suffer so much suffering and two years after the first manifestation of the problem. A small record negative.

All good stories for?, Need a worthy final and even that turns away from his destiny. After a long rehabilitation, continued in the French capital, the Broadly? We return to its concomitant of $ 25,000 in Puebla, as first announced, where he hit a major success, yielding a few sets and renewing all of its chances in a future perspective and not just since this week tenter? 10,000 L in an encore? Havana, Cuba will matter? the result, l? idea that we made? that, despite the many errors and much luck, at least not another talented tennis? been squandered. And this? certainly a small thing.

Awesome. If any of our resident journalists are reading this, I think you should start writing articles in a foreign language and have Google translate them into English for publishing; young Anglo Saxons will find them far more entertaining.

The LTA have finally acknowledged Naomi's victory as a passing remark in an article about Joss reaching the doubles semi in Australia....

How pathetic is that ?!  I had a look at the site and also the archived news and it looks as if last week they were acknowleging much much less significant progresses as Naomi barnstrormed through a 25K ( even forgetting the comeback circumstances ).

I think folk would like more honest portrayal of GB successes rather than almost black balling coverage of someone not seen as one of theirs.

We'll not be holding our collective breaths on that happening, Indiana.

Naomi gets more of a mention this week on the LTA site for reaching the 3rd round in Cuba than she did last week for winning the 25K. Maybe a guilty reaction influenced by the opinions expressed on this forum .

That was quite a fun read

I'm still disgusted by the LTA lack of response to Naomis success. She is clearly out of favour there, which is a shame as she seems to be the 1990 girl who will make the biggest impact
