I'm tempted to sell my ATP World Tour Finals tickets... anyone interested?

Hey everyone, my first post since the summer, and unfortunately, it's not a post I'd be liking to make...

So, here's my story; not quite my life story, but pretty long :p

Since buying my tickets for the World Tour Finals in March, I decided that my uni course - Accounting- wasn't really for me, so transferred to a new course, now studying for a joint degree in Business Analysis / Management.  However, while by doing this, I was able to gain direct entry into 2nd year, I had already done 2nd year Accounting.

As a result of repeating a year, I'm having to pay my own tuition fees, that I believe to be £1,820 (as yet only a deposit of £210 has been paid), which is a big expense I wasn't expecting at the time of buying the tickets...

I've also got an assignment due in at no later than 4.00p.m. on Thursday the 26th, and knowing what I'm like, I'll may not have the assignment finished before leaving for London on the 25th, as I usually finish such work on the day it's due :p although that's not really a proper reason, it is unfortunately down to finance.

While Im tempted to only sell my spare ticket for each session, and still go myself, I'm not sure if Id really be happy doing that, also I reckon the tickets will be more alluring if being offered as pairs.

So, I've got 2 tickets for both Thursday sessions (26th of November), starting at 12:30 and 19:00, in Block 107, Row H; and 2 tickets for both Friday sessions (27th), same times, in Block 117, again Row H.  I also have a single ticket for Saturday (28th) afternoon, if anyone's interested.

I'm not looking to make a profit on my tickets, the Thursday and Friday tickets all have a face value of £49.75 each, although, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for £50 per ticket, as that's a nice round figure.

Finally, the reason I'm making the offer on here first, is because its the only tennis forum Ive posted on since I joined way back in February 2006, and I suspect that there are some proper tennis fans who would love the chance to go.  Whereas, there're possibly a higher proportion of unscrupulous people on other parts on the web who'd try to take advantage of this in order to resell them for a profit, obviously I'm hoping the buyer wont do this!  The tickets have my name and address on them, and if anyone was going to make a profit from them, I'd want it to be me!

Finally - Part 2:  I've just checked on ticketmaster, and tickets are still available for Thursday and Friday, but there doesn't appear to be any tickets as far forward as row H.  Also, they'd cost £54.75 each (I saved £5 per ticket by buying for the afternoon and evening sessions together), also, if the person buying is able to meet me in Glasgow city centre, there won't be any postage costs :p

Finally - Part 3:  I really need to get ready to go out, so apologies if the above text doesnt make sense; I've not properly read though it, so it may appear as if I'm rambling...!

Yeah, I think I may do that, although, I've yet to join that forum, despite having been meaning to for years - literally!

I'm a little disappointed by the lack of response on here, having now been over a full day since posting, but with the Murray vs. Mayer match due to start in under an hour, there my be some interest by the end of the evening...

I suspect if people were keen they'd have snapped them up long ago. If they weren't keen a few months ago, they're unlikely to be keen now, with tennis having been largely off the agenda recently and Andy's prospects, due to injury, perhaps diminished.

So I share your suspicion that the timing might not be right - put them back on the market after Andy's won Paris and you'll make a fortune!

I guess anyone here really interested in attending on the Thurday / Friday would be likely to already have got tickets and as you say apparently face value tickets are still avalable from Ticketmaster.

It would have been nice if you had got a quick response from someone reconsidering their options or just being jolted into action by your post.  But I don't find it that surprising.

Anyway, I am sure the offer to this board was generally appreciated.

As the Hoose says maybe Andy's reemergence after his break may help matters, particularly if he is successful.

I personally am going down to the final  ( good if Andy can make it but I expect an enjoyable occasion whatever ).  However, I can't make earlier in the week.

I wasn't disappointed by a lack of interest or offers, just the general lack of response, even if just to say that the offer was appreciated.

I realise that the tickets are expensive, especially in this economic climate, and with the the ticket dates only 3 weeks away, it could even be an issue for some to get down to London and get reasonably priced accommodation.

Just to reiterate though, while tickets are still available from ticketmaster, I'm selling mine cheaper than you'd pay there, and the seats are if not better, at least closer to the court than are still available. smile

And yeah, while Andy's return to fitness may help me offload them, there's going to be 7 other top singles players there, not to mention the doubles which can be great to watch.

Oh, and well done on getting your ticket for the final - I tried to get at least 1 ticket for the final Sunday, but wasn't able to - it should be a great match regardless of which players make it.

Stew.... Not sure of my schedule for Uni for that week by depending on what lectures I have I might be interested in taking the tickets.

I'm already going on the Wednesday but if I'm not in on Thurs or Fri then I would take the tickets, but I won't be into Uni until Monday so probably won't know until then exactly when I'm in.

If they are still available then I will get back to you then and take them off your hands if you don't want the tickets.

Stew - go out a little bit less - and not only will you rapidly save enough money to cover the cost of the tickets, you'll also get your assignment in before 25th. It's a win-win situation, as any business analyst would tell you!

Well, good luck anyway,  Andy.

To be honest, I don't go out that much, and even when I do I don't tend to spend too much.

Anyway, I've looked into the cheapest ways of getting to London and back, and staying there for 3 nights; and by doing it on a budget - I think I will go down for the few days, but the offer of a ticket for Thursday and Friday both afternoon and evening is still there.

As a side note, this is how cheap I think it could be:-
Return coach - £25
3  nights in a hostel - £56
Oyster top up to cover the 3 days - £20

So, just over £100 there, plus food/drink and maybe a few souvenirs... should come to under £200 total, which is what I'm expecting from the 4 tickets, so my bank balance won't be negatively affected it seems.

Plus, since I'll be there, I could meet the person/s who want/s a ticket/s at the o2 on the actual days which seems ideal from my point of view.

Although, of course by selling all the tickets, and not going down, I'd be in the region of £450 better off, and I need to decide whether 2 and half days of tennis is worth that much.

hmm it seems as if this post is quite pointless... as I've swayed from probably going, back to not fully decided! doh

So, if anyone wants to buy both tickets for a session for £100, I'll perhaps still let you have them.  I think I'm rambling again...

Well, I'm currently on my way down to London, and I didn't bother offering my spare tickets on the Andy Murray forum, or anywhere else for that matter.

I'll hopefully be able to sell them while I'm there, anyway, could someone who's already been there this week let me know if there're touts operating outside the O2, as I'd perhaps try to offload my spare tickets to them.

I didn't see any touts but then it was hammering it down with rain at the time!
