I seem to remember Andy 4-5 years ago tended to fade if a match went to more than three sets. I particularly remember his match against Nalbandian at Wimbledon when he won the 1st two sets and then totally ran out of energy. I guess Laura is at a similar stage at 15/16 to Andy at 17/18.
Not that I know anything about these things and obviously she has a great coaching staff that are a thousand times better than me but Laura needs to cut out the double faults.
I think (although I'd love to be wrong) she's going to get creamed by her other 2 opponents. Andy should win both his matches which will give 'live' mixed doubles matches.
Win both of them and they're in the final and with Andy you never know. Was a lovely change in Andy when it got close. Suddenly went into "Come on" mode and he wasn't for losing.
I think the current status of Laura's serve is a direct result of what happened in the US open qualifying when it collapsed under pressure. It seems that her coach/Laura decided that it would be best to take a little bit off her 1st serve just to get it in but now that is not working and she has become very tentative. She may as well have a real crack at the first serve to try and gain some cheap points because if she serves like that against Lisicki and Dementieva I fear for the scoreline. Basically her service action is technically very sound but because it is a flat hit on both 1st and 2nd serve there is no room for error. Under pressure she has a tendency to shorten her throwing up arm movement which results in an inconsistent striking zone for the resultant hit leading to faults.
