RE: Week 1 - Hopman Cup

Excellent experience for Laura. Where else will she get 3 "competitive" matches against top 60 opposition in a week?

She's not going to be expected to win any of them so can really only gain from the tournament - unless she gets double-bagelled in every match I suppose!

Another article about Laura's preparation for the hopman cup.

Appears to be well prepared already at the venue practicing.

The link works better without the final full stop.

Watched 2 pretty good matches today.

Live coverage has gone from here in Australia so I'm listening on the PerthNow.com.au link.

Romania could pull off a big upset in group A to open it up wide open.

1-1 in matches and the Romanians have just taken the first set in the mixed.

Thanks for that link, philwrig.

I see the article mentions Andy will be going into the Aus Open without a competitive match unless he requests a WC for Sydney for the week before  ( which I think is pretty unlikely and as previously discussed would not effect his no 5 Aus Open seeding )

I imagine then that Andy will be playing at least his singles matches in the Hopman Cup in very competitive mode.

I must admit the Australians have much better taste when it comes to choosing a picture to show on page 3.

I just had a look at the media pack for the tournament, and it seem the GB player with the best singles record is Sarah Loosemore. We always were good at irony!
