Boys & Girls: Egypt 4 International Championships - Grade 4 (Week 40)


In a slim week for junior tournaments the one which has a group of Brits is in Cairo - the second week of tournaments there following a Grade 5 last week, where quarter-finals were the best achieved.

Boys R1 (L32)

James Ireland (GBR) defeated Ali Dawoody (EGY) 6-4 3-6 6-3
Joshua Page (GBR) defeated (5) Omar Elkheshen (EGY) 6-4 6-2
Robert Carter  (GBR) defeated Claude Benz (SUI) 6-4 1-6 6-4

Girls R1

Robert Carter is the only British 1993 boy ranked inside the top 500 apart from the big three on Davis Cup duty, and he maintains interest here with a comprehensive win

Manisha hardly played in the first half of the year (injury presumably) after winning the AEGON 18&under Winter Masters She beat Daneika Borthwick in the Nationals and looks to be coming back to her early season form.
