RE: US Open - R3 - Andy vs. Taylor Dent

Right now its looking very good for Andy regarding chances of him making the final.

He has a great record against Cilic and beat him comfortably in straights at this stage of the French Open.

Del Potro struggled today against Koellerer and doesn't look in that great form atm. Plus Andy must have the psychological edge after toughing out that Montreal final

Nadal had to play through the pain barrier to get past Almagro and was lucky by Almagro's generosity in not taking any of his multitude of chances. Looks unlikely right now that Nadal will make the semis

GSM Andy wins 6-3 6-2 6-2, not really sure that we could have expected a better result.

Although once again his service % is pretty low.

Well played Andy. Cillic Next!

I don't mind his service % being low if it was because he was really going for it and getting cheap points when it was in? I haven't checked the match stats yet to get an idea if that was the case.

Very impressive 9/10.
Cilic is playing better but should be taken in 3/4 sets.
Still worried about Del Potro.
But Nadal is really struggling.

Seems to have been a really good solid performancer with which Andy was very happy with.

He was particularly pleased with his returning and limiting Dent to 2 aces and evidently getting 90% back into play just shows what wonderful anticipation he has, particularly against big servers, basically to me best in the world in this department.  It's not surprising that Dent got a little bit down about someone doing that to hisd serve.

Overall stats were :

I'll kind of let him off on serve this time, percentage was very variable over the 3 sets :   45%  ( 12 / 27 ),  79%  (  15 / 19 )  and  23%  ( 5 / 22 ).  Come the third set he was basically in control, maybe even trying a few things on serve and still only dropped 5 points on serve.  Seems he was generally going for it.  Still like to see a consistent higher level v Cilic.

I love that Andy won a higher % with his 83mph 2nd serve than Dent did with his 120mph 1st.37 mph on average seems a big gap to close.

His return shot on Dent's serve was ridiculously good,Dent made some great volleys and Andy missed quite a few put aways and he still broke regularly.

As straightforward as it was ever going to be, and Dent was never really going to trouble him, so good to see Andy get through in straight sets and play a decent match.

Del Potro and Nadal aren't looking that good in this tournament as well so his chances are improving (if Kiefer has served well, or Almagro had a brain, Nadal would already be out, so Murray definately should beat him the way he's playing)
