This tournament provides the opportunity for younger juniors to climb the rankings. Some of the players to look out for here are Caitlin Hindmarsh and Francesca Stephenson, who have had decent results already this year, along with Amy Askew, who is on the comback trail:

A few first round matches were completed today, and it wasn't a good day for the seeds with 4 of the 8 perishing, including top seed Hannah Martin-Merchant (to Celia Fraser) and third seed Caitlin Hindmarsh (to Hope Johnson). Two British semi-finalists are guaranteed in the first and third quarters.
