I do rate Bettles though. Watched him play in Wrexham last year and thought he looked an excellent prospect on that showing
Wow, if that's true this age group is even more talented than first thought! What with Broady and Goldy being the youngest ranked players and George is pretty talented too
Thankfully the ITF has confirmed that, as I thought, GBR have qualified for the Junior Davis Cup:
"The Junior Davis Cup and Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Finals will take place from 29 September 4 October in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
The full list of qualifiers is as follows:
Junior Davis Cup by BNP Paribas: Argentina Australia Bolivia Chile Czech Republic France Great Britain India Korea Mexico Morocco Poland Slovak Republic Spain USA Uzbekistan"
Of the non-European nations Australia, India and USA all have at least 2 eligible players in the top 200 ITF but I didn't spot anyone from the other 7
I'm surprised Argentina don't; they have 3 u18s in the u18 top 10, you would have thought their u16s would be pretty handy too?
Their top U16s probably are good. Looking at the records of the 3 currently in the top 10 I see they each only played a couple of ITF tournaments last year before stepping up emphatically during the Latin American clay court season in the early part of 2009. I expect they focus on internal competition mainly whilst U16s, so the ITF rankings may well be deceptive.
