Doesn't Andy know the art of winning ugly? He will need to step it up against Gonzalez.

Good lad!

Now all he has to do is make Gonzo play erratically as he so often does. . .

Better from Murray, but still can improve on the clay and was a bit lucky that Cilic basically handed him the first set with an awful game at 5-5, and then gave him the break at the start of the third with another poor game and then just gave up it seemed.

Cilic made far too many errors today... some the result of good play by Murray, but a lot the result of him just not being able to keep the ball in court.

But Murray played well enough to get the win and came through the important 2nd set TB well and from then never looked like losing.

Haven't seen anything from Murray to suggest that he will beat Gonzalez though - still doesn't seem to be enough on the groundstrokes for clay court tennis, and the 2nd serve seemed a bit poor today, and Gonzo will be able to take advantage of that if he plays like he has done so far... of course, Gonzo could have one of his days where he cannot put the ball in the court.

QF though is a great achievement from Murray and the improvement he has made on the clay this season has been impressive.

Did enough to get the win. His defensive play was impressive in this match. No real need for his attacking game today. Probably need to raise his level from now on and be more ambitious on 2nd serve.

The sheer determination to find something to complain about... How very British.

What makes everyone think that Gonzalez is better than Cilic?

Gonzalez's record on clay this year is a title in Vina Del Mar, and SF's in Barcelona and Rome - they are the only events that he's played on clay.

He's also won 8 titles on the clay, while Cilic has never reached a final.

Gonzalez has also been awesome in this tournament and is at the moment, a better player on a clay court than Cilic is - his serve is better, his forehand is better, his defence is arguably better while he's better at the net.

Although Vanek, Machado, Ouanna and Hanescu are possibly not the toughest of opponents ...

Murray now 9/2 to win whole tournament and 8/11 to beat Gonzalez. Murray has the ability to step it up but will need to. Murray to win in five but too tired to win semi/final

Nice win there for Andy. Last eight certainly shows what he can do on the clay and will answer all those critics who said he wouldn't even get to the second week. With Nadal now out it would never surprise me to see Andy go all the way to the final.

Another fantastic result, unfortunately missed it all but looks by the nature of the result another fairly convincing 3 set win. I think Andy could now go all the way which would be an incredible achievement. Get In!!
