...and with Heather's doubles partner Babos losing too after looking fatigued I wouldn't be surprised if there's another loss or withdrawal in the doubles on the way.
On the plus side, with Babos and Watson losing today and Elena Bogdan and Rogowska losing yesterday the bottom half of the draw doesn't look as frightening for Laura if she could make the final. Buchina is her confirmed third round opponent after seeing off Curovic in three sets earlier.
3R: (1) Robson (GBR) v (14) Buchina (RUS)
A win for Laura will see her recoup the 80 points she's defending from last year and see her into a third successive QF at Junior level.
R2: Orlik/Linette d. (1) Babos/Watson 4-6, 6-4, 10-6 R2: Curovic/Skamlova d. (2) Robson/Kerkhove 6-3, 3-6, 10-8
7 of the 8 seeded pairs lost today so at least none of Laura or Heather's immediate rivals at the top of the rankings are likely to benefit from the Brits' losses. (Unless of course Silva/Cepede Royg go on to win it)

Disappointing. Timea Babos's defeat helps Laura, as she was one of two players who could claim the number 1 spot from her this week. Tomljanovic is the other - she needs to win the event, and see Laura exit before the semis.
The 16 year old American, Stephens has already beaten form player Putintseva and (11) Simmonds in straight sets this week and is only not seeded due to her reluctance to only drop down to Juniors for the big events. She's ranked just below Laura in Seniors at #519 and beat #61 Melinda Czink in straight sets in US Open qualies last year.
It's going to be extremely tough but, like Laura she does not have a lot of clay court experience.

Not convincing against a consistent but exposed player. But the great thing is she is finding a way to win these tough matches. A step up in the next round against Stephens who is playing very well this week and who will be desperate to make it an all American semi final.
One of those seeds to disappear is Tomljanovic, so Laura's number one position is safe. I saw the last two games of Laura's match on an Italian TV channel (it is called Super Tennis, and is on the HotBird satellite, if anyone else has that option - they are showing highlights every evening at 9.30, and tomorrow morning at 9.30am BST they will screen Laura's QF live). One thing which was evident was Laura's aggression, compared to most of the juniors.
