RE: Dan Evans

The is not Spazio Tennis' fault - it's their article as translated by Google translate - but it is pretty funny (and shows us that translation programmes are a LONG way from being top notch).

translate.google.co.uk/translate

For the purists, and those who read Italian properly, you can go to the original:

www.spaziotennis.com/2014/11/evans-daniel-atp-missing/

but my guess is that it's not nearly as much fun . . .

Er. . . yes. Quite. Pity I can't read Italian. If it had been in French or German I might have had more success than with the translation

Anyone aware of what sort of PR ranking Dan would be entitled to when he returns?

Do we have an estimated return to action date?

There is an explanation a few posts back on this thread of how the PR is calculated, but as Dan last played on the 1st week in Sept, if he comes back before March, he will not qualify for a PR anyway.

Anyone know how Dan is getting on?

I see Dan has worked out how to use the IPIN system and actually enter a tournament.

Down for Lille 15K in first week of march. At present not even in qualifiers due to ranking, but will be close to main draw when all withdrawals kick in.

That's good I hope he is healthy by then and is able to bring his A game.

He could also try qualifying for the Cherbourg challenger the week after next. Like Lille it is pretty easy to get to.

I think we'd prefer for him to still be playing on the Saturday that qualies start in Cherbourg....But you are right, playing Cherbourg would certainly be logical if he starts the week in Lille, and a good performance there would give him plenty of points.

How many of us think Dan E can find his form of 2013 again?  i would love him to, but I'm not convinced it will happen. If he does make it to Cherbourg, we may even get a stream which would be cool.

I wonder what the attitude of the new 'hard-nosed' regime is to Mr Evans.  Somehow I can't see him being given any special treatment at all, apart from help with his injury, nor can I see him being castigated for misdemeanours or apathy.

Next to Andy Murray Dan is the most talented British player I hope he gets back to his previous level, always a joy to watch on court

He's my favourite British player to watch, bags of unfulfilled potential which we've seen glimpses of here and there with his US open run and Davis cup performances. I really thought after his finish to 2013 and start to 2014 he was going to really kick on and establish himself as a top 100 maybe even top 50 player.
Can he still do it? Yes most definitely, he's still young in modern men's tennis terms. Will he? Juries out I'm afraid, I'm not convinced he's got the will power and determination to grind his way back up the rankings. I'll certainly be hoping he does.

Agree he can be a really exciting player to watch and no-one can really question the talent.  However, after all the help he's been given over the years, I'm just wondering if the new brooms at the LTA are saying: no more, on your own now. After all, it's what they seem to be saying to every other player save Kyle and Liam .....

Sorry I wasn't clear. Cherbourg is the week before Lille.

Not sure if this Dan thread is the latest but thought I would post here anyway. ATP have an interesting insight into how Dan's return has turned him into someone performing at top 20 level.

www.atpworldtour.com/en/news/evans-infosys-february-2017

Looking out 5 weeks, both Dan and Kyle are effectively 8 places higher than currently with no points to lose and those higher than them losing more. So Dan could be top 40 by end Feb/early March, Kyle mid 40's
