RE: Rome R2: Andy v Juan Monaco

Strong candidate for worst set of tennis from Andy this year. Just horrible.

Andy has to post a break early in this set - Monaco's a "momentum" player and he'll be dangerous with any kind of 'encouragement'

Monaco gets it though -   2-1  up - a real uphill battle for Andy now.

I thought Andy would be hitting the ball deeper, and with a bit more topspin on clay by now - He's still trying to run the ball down and outmanoeuvre his opponent.  That'll never get the job done consistently at this level.

The standard of play is a lot higher in this set. Both players hitting winners and aggressive shots. Shame he couldn't play like this in the second set.

3-4 down, Monaco to serve - Last chance to get in the big return and dominate the server.

...And he does just that! 4-4  needs a solid service game now.

Not surprised Andy broke back. Seems to be playing some decent tennis now. Even coming to the net to put away volleys!

5-4*

...And that too!  5-4 Murray!  Does Monaco have the bottle for this now?

Has anyone else noticed but a number of the ball people (trying to be PC) appear to be slightly on the large side!!

Seems like he may have.  5-5  Murray had no chance in that game.
- Needs another solid game on serve.
