Girls: VIII Campeonatos Internacionales Junior de Tenis de la Comunidad Valenciana, Spain - Grade 2 (Week 16)

Jennifer Ren was scheduled to make her comeback here, but unfortunately is a late withdrawal, but Jessica Ren has joined three of the girls who played the Spanish Grade 3 last week. Elisha Gabb needs a big week to avoid a big drop in ranking, as she was a semi-finalist here last year.

R1 (L32)

Joanna Horne (GBR) v (LL)Anna Velica (SWE)
(5)Jessica Ren (GBR) v Carla Forte (BRA)
(4)Elisha Gabb (GBR) v (wc)Diana Stomlega (ROU)
(8)Lucy Brown (GBR) v Klara Fabikova (CZE)

I really think the organisers should have picked a longer title - this one is far too short and snappy.

I've heard that they're planning to shorten it next year to IX Campeonatos Internacionales Junior de Tenis de la Comunidad Valenciana.

Lets hope they are not looking for a named sponsor for next year's event biggrin

R1 (L32)

(LL)Anna Velica (SWE) d.
Joanna Horne (GBR) 7-6(5) 6-1
(5)Jessica Ren (GBR) d. Carla Forte (BRA) 6-1 6-1
(wc)Diana Stomlega (ROU) d.
(4)Elisha Gabb (GBR) 6-3 6-1
Klara Fabikova (CZE) d. (8)Lucy Brown (GBR) 5-7 6-4 6-2

R2

(Q) Ekaterina Tugarinova (RUS) v (5)Jessica Ren (GBR)

That's a good win for Jess over someone who has beaten higher ranked players than her on clay this year. Sadly for Elisha and Lucy their results are in keeping with their year so far.

....the poor results emphasised by their opponents all losing in straight sets today. Jess continues in fine style though - her best result at this Grade

R2

(5)Jessica Ren (GBR) d. (Q) Ekaterina Tugarinova (RUS) 6-4 6-0

QF

(3)Anna Arina Marenko (RUS) v (5)Jessica Ren (GBR)

The Russian is in good form, having won last week's Spanish Grade 3, so any further progress will be a bonus for Jess.

Doubles Semi

Fabikova (CZE) / Horne (GBR) v Filyushina (RUS) / Mun (BLR)
