Boys: AEGON Nottingham Junior ITF Wk 2 - Grade 4 (Week 16)

The second week of Grade 4s sees George Morgan go for back-to-back titles, and the first seed he is scheduled to meet is the Irish boy (Ciaran Fitzgerald) who he beat so convincingly last week. Fitzgerald's first match is against ITF debutant Luke Bambridge, one of our leading 1995s, who came through qualifying.

Here's a link to the singles draw:

Luke was unable to make much of an impression, but for the second week running Connor Glennon knocked out one of the top seeds. All the results from R1 are viewable from the above link.

The big shock today was Eamon Soulsby putting out George Morgan in 3 tight sets. George's doubles partner Lewis Burton suffered another early exit, but 2 British semi-finalists are guaranteed from the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

Liam Broady narrowly missed out on his first QF but Andrew Bettles maintains his impressive recent form, reaching the quarters for the loss of just 8 games. The QFs shape up as follows:

(15) Claude Benz (SUI) v Eamon Soulsby (GBR)
Robin Goodman (GBR) v (9) Andrew Bettles (GBR)
Connor Glennon (GBR) v (4) Christopher Simpson (GBR)
(6) Kurt Thein (USA) v (2) James Turbervill (GBR)

Yes, Andrew's first final, and overtaking George Morgan as our second highest ranked 1993 as a result
