Tennis Europe 14: Maia, Portugal - Category 1 (Week 13)

Most of our top U14s are here for this strong event and Evan Hoyt, Katy Dunne and Pippa Horn have all made the quarter-finals. Live streaming is available every day from the centre court, and Katy is playing at the moment, followed later by 2 of our top doubles teams (Katy/Pippa and Luke Bambridge/Chris Pearce).

The stream is viewable at http://www.tenis.pt/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2807

The OOP/Results are viewable at http://desporto.maiadigital.pt/eventos-e-torneios/maia-jovem-tenis/edicao-2009/resultados

In the boys (2) Hoyt is through to the SF with a 6-4, 6-3 win over (5) Coric (CRO). He will play Miocic (CRO) in the SF who is unseeded but beat Pearce in R2.

In the girls not such good news as (10) Horn lost to Vlahinic (CRO) 6-1, 6-0 and (2) Dunne lost to (5) Kontaveit (EST) 6-1, 6-3.

Bambridge/Pearce and Dunne/Horn are both through to the doubles semis.

Bambridge/Pearce and Dunne/Horn are both through to the doubles finals.

It seems to me Portugal are on the same time zone as us at the moment which means Hoyt's singles SF is on 3rd on court NB 13:00 with play starting at 10:00, followed by the second boys SF, followed by the girls doubles final (with Dunne/Horn) NB 16:00 followed by the boys doubles final (with Bambridge/Pearce) NB 17:30.

Sounds like a great oppotunity to watch some of the British tennis stars of the future to me!

No idea of Hoyt won his match but the second singles SF has just finished meaning the girls doubles final should be starting soon - http://www.tenis.pt/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=280777

Hoyt won 6-4, 6-4 and plays the top seed and European #1 Nikola Milojevic in the final.

In the doubles Bambridge/Pearce took the title but I have no idea of the result of the girls final because link takes me to the singles draw.

The boys final is NB 16:00 tomorrow after the girls final which starts at 14:30.

The first game of the final is underway. I can't hear the umpire over the sound of the crowd so looking for clues as to who is who. But I think our boy is the smaller of the two who started at the near end.

Yes I'm pretty sure my above assumption was correct and Huyt leads 2-1* having just lost his serve.

Milojevic won 6-2, 6-2 - didn't look so one sided though.

Katy/Pippa lost their doubles final 6-1 3-6 [10-7]

Milojevic has won all the Category 1 titles this year by similar scores but Evan will strengthen his grip on the second ranking position
