RG is now suspended by the ITF pending investigation.
Piece on the BBC about it.
He is a great player but if found out to be true...then what a waste.
My view on drugs is quite clear...you dont need em. For fitness or recreational reasons. If you are in the top 10 in any sport in the world you would have to be so careful in what company you would keep.
Couldn't personally agree more. Never understand the necessity of drugs at all full stop so can safely say I never have, never will! I wonder why he feels the need to "explain in his own time" - there's a part of me that thinks that quote sounds quite shifty if you ask me...

I guess the fact that the pressue to be the next big thing in French tennis from the age of 9 onwards finally got to him - but it's not to excuse the fact that taking cocaine is ever acceptable.
It will be Simone Bolelli in round two for Murray, after he beat Juan Igancio Chela 7-5, 7-6(3) today - be surprised if Murray had too much trouble with Bolelli, as even though Bolelli is a decent clay courter, he isn't up to the standard of Juan Monaco, and even if he gets close to winning, Bolelli will choke.
Before jumping the gun and dismissing Gasquet it's worth noting that he claims to have independent tests taking his strands of hair and these tests confirm the opposite of the urine tests - that there is no trace of cocaine in his system at any point (since his hair has been growing in it's current mop anyway!).
Hair is a stronger evidential source by all accounts, directly linked to your blodstream and not able to be tampered with - basically your hair doesn't lie no matter what you try to do with it. Recent figures show a hugely better success rate by using hair testing (4-8 times more successful). It also can be tested 90 days into the future.
Hypothetically, if Gasquet's claim is true and his hair is a negative test his ban would have to be thrown out and the urine tests in Miami reconsidered, there is always the possibility of soeone contaminating a sample, don't ask me how.
