Girls: 13th Sarawak Chief Minister's Cup, Malaysia - Grade 1 (Week 11)

Hannah James has been joined in the main draw by another Hannah, 16&under Grand Prix champion Hannah Martin-Merchant, but Francesca Stephenson lost in qualifying. Hannah M-M has been rewarded with a draw against a fellow qualifier, whilst Hannah J is likely to face familiar opposition - Mai Grage is a likely opponent in round 2 whilst Timea Babos is again seeded to meet her in the QF.

R1 (L64)

Mai Grage (DEN) v (SE) Trang Huynh Phuong Dai (VIE)
(5) Hannah James (GBR) v BYE

(14) Tamara Curovic (CRO) v BYE
(Q) Ai Wen Zhu (CHN) v (Q) Hannah Martin-Merchant (GBR)

(I can't find the Boys draw anywhere on the Internet yet)

Odd because the boys draw is on ITF website but no girls draw! Where did you get the girls? It rained pretty much non stop today so only a few matched were completed!

Thanks for the link - I hadn't twigged that the draws had been updated there as the date reference on the home page had not changed. They have updated again with the following result (almost identical to last week):

R2

(5) Hannah James (GBR) d.
Mai Grage (DEN) 7-6(6) 6-3

R3

(Q) Di Zhao (CHN) v (5) Hannah James (GBR)

Hannah loses to Babos at the QF stage for the second successive week:

R3
(5) Hannah James (GBR) beat (Q) Di Zhao (CHN) 7-5, 6-1

QF
(1) Timea Babos (HUN) beat (5) Hannah James (GBR) 6-4, 6-3

updated results:

Doubles, Hannah James/ Maryna Zanevska (3) d. Beatrice Gumulya/ Grace Sari Sidora (2) 6-3, 6-3.

This makes Hannah's second grade one final in consecutive tournaments.

Was a good effort by Hannah in singles, an improvement on last weeks results (6-3, 6-1)

Let's hope the final goes the same way as last week.

Two consistent weeks for Hannah, and her doubles partner is on course for two titles again.

Doubles Final

(1) Babos/Ejdesgaard (HUN/DEN) v James/Zanevska (GBR/UKR)

Still another good week for Hannah, who will join Steph in the top 50. However, Hannah still has some points to defend in the next month, so could use further success in the next 2 Asian Grade 1s to secure her place in the Grand Slams. It was Timea Babos' turn to win both titles.
