RE: Indian Wells R4 - Andy vs Tommy Robredo

Robredo retires with a wrist injury! Eh? He never called a trainer.

Strange. But okay, we'll have the points, thank you.

Anybody else think Andy has at last beefed up that second serve? You get a few more double faults, but on the whole well worth it.

apparently andy saw tommy putting some ice on b4 the match, but certainly it wasn't showing in the match. also still seems andy's ankle is troubling him a bit.

on the 2nd serve, i'm not sure Mad, it still seemed to be there to be pounded on occasion. its a tough call isnt it, risk a DF but make it tougher or get it in play and take it from there.

A retirement is never a nice way to end a tennis match, but I'll take the win for Murray. Hopefully Robredo is OK.

I am now off to find a picture of his new hairstyle so thanks Madeline, I'll let you know if I agree with you. wink.gif

Edit: I've found one, and Madeline I agree with you 100% I don't think it really suits him at all.

That was annoying, just managed to get a stream up and he retired.

Still its great that he has had a run this easy so far. Pretty much perfect for getting over his virus.

Injury to Robredo clearly didn't help his performance at all and probably in part explains his tame effort, but it was still a good performance from Murray who looks to be getting back to something like his best form.

And Andreev/Ljubicic in the QF's shouldn't be the most difficult match either so a smooth passage to the semi finals is just about the best thing he could have hoped for in this event, providing he doesn't slip up.

He's playing so little tennis here it seems that he may as well go and win the doubles event with Ross!!!

EDIT: And yes, Robredo's new streamlined haircut just doesn't look right on him.

Andy's next match is tomorrow, about 8pm UK time, v either Ljubicic or Andreev who even now are just going into a nice tiring third set. biggrin.gif

And after that he has to play doubles!

Hows bizarre perhaps they are attempting to cross tennis fans to athletics?

The article was working earlier as I remember reading something about Verdasco's break in there.

Numpty looks to be headed towards a 3-0 H2H record against Rafa, who has never won a set against him. Rafa has justsaved 4 MPs but will need to break now to survive.

This would be huge for Numpty, since his other two wins against Rafa came on indoor hard towards the end of 2007, the end of the season where Dave traditionally does well and Rafa doesn't ... and he's feeling the pressure as he starts the game with a df and goes two bps down ... but then remembers how to play again and gets back to deuce.
