For a set and a half it was a pretty good match and a close contest between them, but after Nadal took an injury time out at 2-1 in the 2nd set, the match just became very bizarre with nothing but breaks of serve in the 2nd set, while the 3rd set was a write-off because Nadal couldn't do anything other than stand still and hit the ball - he couldn't jump for the serve or chase balls down.
A good performance from Murray for a set and a half - a disappointing later half to the second serve where his serve disappeared, and then a professional 3rd set where he did enough against an injured opponent.
2nd title of the year, and 500 ranking points to his name, so a good end to the week.
Not the way I wanted Andy to win, but hey. . . in the years to come all that will be seen is the 10th title beating the #1. I thought he deserved to win the first set, and was only worried that he couldn't keep it up.
He really will have to work on keeping his concentration when the opponent takes a medical time-out. He should have won in straights once Rafa had problems.
A worrying time for the Rafa camp. We're used to his body breaking down at the end of the year, but this is a bit early for him to have problems.
Disappointing to watch as a match for the second half but the result tops off a great week for me - no 1 grandson born on Monday! What age can you start playing tennis?
