Last year Liam Broady and Laura Robson were finalists in this major under 14 tournament, and previous finalists have included Rafa Nadal, Richard Gasquet, Marat Safin, Kim Clijsters, Justine Henin, Lindsay Davenport - oh, and a certain Andy Murray! The main draws start tomorrow.

Girls Singles R1

(1) Petra Uberalova (SVK) v Pippa Horn (GBR)
Jelena Dzinic (SRB) v (14) Katy Dunne (GBR)
Q v Beth Askew (GBR)

In addition Eleanor Dean and Dasha Konotoptseva are into final qualifying

A disappointing opening day, with two of our top hopes out. Evan may have paid for his efforts in Bolton last week.

Round 1 now completed, with no further British success, along with the first round of doubles - Luke and Evan being top seeds in that.

An encouraging return to form for Luke. His semi is scheduled second on Court Central (first match is at 8am Saturday) with live scoring available at

As Luke gets on the board at last for 1-4* there is at least news of one junior title today here - Pippa Horn has won the girls consolation singles (she also resisted well against the strong number one seed in the opening round of the main draw, so it has been a good tournament for Pippa.)
