Well that was pants....Pavel turned up for the dosh IMO. (I would have done the same BTW)

R2....

That's a very harsh and unfounded comment. Nothing wrong with someone like Pavel who has been a great servant to the game wanting one last hurrah - I'm sure he is just playing (back permitting) for the love of the game now.

Not a lot that can really be learnt about that match, other than Murray looked pretty comfortable out there and seems to be in some decent form.

Sad to see Pavel have to pull out like that - have a feeling that it may be the last time he's seen playing on a tennis court as there's no way he'll be able to play on with a persistent back problem like he has (and yeah, he may have come for the money as well, but I guess he also wanted to give his back a try to see if he could still play tennis at the highest level)

A nice rest for Murray now it seems, although maybe a bit more of a test in the next round would be helpful just to get some court time in.

Next match will be v Granollers.

Shame he had to go through to R2 that way. I'm sure he would have preferred to get a few more games to get used to the court - I see he is saying RLA is playing faster than the outside courts.

On the Australian open website, Andy has the "Shot of the Day" for day 2.

Apparently Pavel has indeed decided to retire permanently after that match. Shame.

They have now moved the link from the home page, but if you click on "Video" it is under the heading "TV" which (at the moment, at any rate!) is in the top right corner.

It does show what an instinctive player Andy is for the shot at a given time.

The vast vast majority of players would have put up a high lob on that final shot ( and probably lost the pont ), Andy totally took Pavel by surprise so that he missed a volley that he would otherwise have made.

Good stuff  smile

Thanks. I've just realised you have to wait for it to play the Rolex ad with Ana & Fed first!

Court 14 - am I seeing things or is that A Pavel playing doubles? The same A Pavel that retired against Andy and then announced his probable permanent retirement? Currently 6-1 3-2 with a break of serve against Aspelin and Vizner. Crazy!
