LTA Winter Grand Prix Masters - Roehampton

During the winter Grand Prix tournaments have been held for our juniors in 5 different agebands, culminating in a series of Masters events at the National Tennis Centre during January and February.

The first of these this weekend is the 18 and under Masters, which includes the Thomson twins, Oliver Golding, Ashley Hewitt, Alexandra Walker and Katie Gater amongst others. Here are the draws (and round 1 results for the girls):

Looking at past results over the last couple of months, it seems that Katie Gater doesn't lose very much in these events.

In fact she's only lost one set in her previous 11 matches in these. No wonder they've been looking at her for WCs in ITFs.

Is Richard Gabb related to Elisha Gabb?

Good to see a 1993 girl win through and Katie Gater continuing her form.

While the boys draw is here:

The finals were:

One local paper has dubbed Lucas Taylor as " the East End's answer to Tim Henman", so no pressure there then!

Well done Lila - saw her demonstrate at Wimbledon last year. To me she looks really "sweet" but having seen Laura aged nine would suggest that there is quite a difference between the two - not least physically.

No relation between Richard & Elisha Gabb as far as I'm aware. They're from different parts of the country
