RE: Masters Cup 2008 - RR - Andy Murray v Roger Federer

Win or not, Andy has invested a huge amount in this match. Hope he can recover quickly for tomorrow or he'll wonder whether it's worth it. Psychologically it wouldn't be good to lose this.

Deuce Ace (may have missed a couple of points)
A.Fed
Deuce Murray puts away the volley, having run Federer out of the court
A.Fed Winner clips the line. The crowd goes crazy as Murray's challenge fails
Deuce Missed that point. My feed's still dodgy.

Fed eventually wins the game, having faced 7 match points. 5-5.

How many more match points do you need Andy? just take one and then give Rog a good old pat on the back

Murray to serve at 5-5...

15-00 Second serve clips the centre line and Fed nets.
30-00 Deep first serve and Fed eventually nets
30-15 Fed apparently gives up the point as he lobs a return back but moves just as Andy hits, and knocks the ball back for a winner
40-15 Unreturned serve
Game Murray. Fed nets.  Murray leads 6-5*

This match is so important for Andy. A chance to get the Fed fear factor out of his mind before next season - you can see he still has that fear because of the way he returned on the match points

Fed serving at 5-6

15-00 Fed bosses the point
15-15 Double fault
15-30 Fed misses an easy drive volley
15-40 Murray has Fed at full stretch at the net and he can't get the ball back second time

GAME, SET, MATCH MURRAY!  Second serve again, which Murray gets in.  After a bit of a rally, Fed hits it out.

Murray wins 4-6 7-6(3) 7-5 biggrin

Fantastic to watch if somewhat stressful. Excellent effort from Federer and hope Murray will be OK tomorrow.

Funny that the players come on court followed by someone carrying their bags but after 3 hours playing with a bad back, Fed strolled off carrying his bags out. Could probably have done with a little physical support after that.

fantastic Murray. 3 out of 3 to top the group. Has to be a massive contender now for the title.

Davy-Donkey tomorrow. Hope Minto is fit enough after that marathon. Rog a real fighter, many would have packed in long before the end. thumbsup.gif

WOW!!!

That was an absolute cracker of a match. Well done indeed, Andy.

I'm exhausted, I can't begin to imagine how he feels. I hope he has something left for tomorrow - Davydenko is playing very well, and has had a day's rest - but if he hasn't, he has still done wonderfully well on his TMC debut.

Federer really needed that and seemed to want it so for Andy that was a great win, I really think he is the best player right now and hope for a lot next year especially in Aus.
