If murray wins in straight sets and then assuming (worst case) loses against Fed in straights he will be on 2 wins with a 4 - 3 set difference

If Simon doesn't beat Stepanek in straights he cant beat Murray as the best he could manage is set difference of 4 - 4.

Situation 1
If Simon wins (in straights) against Stepanek then he will have a 4 - 3 set difference
If Federer beats Murray and Stepanek in straights he will be on a 5 - 2 set difference
Fed would be top, this would put Murray through as he is level with Simon but has beaten him.

Situation 2
If Simon wins (in straights) against Stepanek then he will have a 4 - 3 set difference
If Federer beats Murray in straights and beats Stepanek 2 - 1 he will be on a 5 - 3 set difference
Fed would be top, this would put Murray through as he is level with Simon but has beaten him.

Situtation 3
If Stepanek beats Simon (this puts Simon out) and beats Federer
Then Murray and Stepanek go through on two wins.

Situtation 4
If Stepanek beats Simon (this puts Simon out) and loses Federer
Then Murray and Federer go through on two wins.

So if Murray wins in straights he is through

Thanks, Mike. I was going on the fact it wouldn't come down to H2H as Federer, Simon and Murray would have already beaten each other once. But of course if Federer is ahead on sets then it would just come down to H2H between Simon and Murray.
