Andy is on the entry list for the Tokyo Japan Open 500 which starts on Oct 5th, the week before the Shanghai Masters. He is second seed, with Fed the top seed there. Nadal and Djokovic are playing Beijing.
After Andy's withdrwal from Shanghai, I heard Jonathan Overend of BBC Radio 5 Live again being very critical of the decision re playing the Davis Cup matches not being taken out of Andy's hands.
This is consistent with what he said on his blog after the tie :
"The British number one played magnificently in Liverpool although, interestingly, it was against medical advice.
On days two and three, I understand he was expecting to be rested by team officials who had seen the doctor's report on his injured wrist, but because the final decision was left up to him, he felt obliged to play."
But then we have a Davis Cup Captain who doesn't seemingly really support, inspire or evidently make tough chioces, but apparently he's a "nice guy" - oops , off the point
Anyway, it doesn't sound that it is actually too bad and Andy and his team are just being sensible.
Hope to see him back, as he is planning, for Valencia.
Andy's arrived in Valencia - and is already off in search of some Sushi for supper...... there just had to be a good reason for Alex Corretja to be there. Smart of Andy to take a Spaniard along to read the map........
Muzzah's latest tweet: "in valencia trying to find somewhere to have sushi alex has a map and looks like a total tourist no idea where he is going!"
