As a stand along performance it wasn't as good as the one against Monfils yesterday, but given it was against Federer today and the stage, it probably is better overall.
The first set from Murray wasn't that good, making too many errors and never looking like being able to win the match, but as soon as he got the break in the 2nd set he became the better player and dominated the match.
He made a few too many errors off the ground, but the way he was playing when he was keeping in the rally was getting to Federer and he completely broke down the Federer forehand which for the most part was dreadful, and his topspin backhand wasn't much better.
And Murray's serve was as good as it has ever been - it seemed like in the 2nd and 3rd sets he was racing through his service games in about a minute, and Federer just couldn't get into them at all - if he serves like that every time he plays then he won't lose many, if any matches.
Nadal in the final will be a difficult prospect - he has the game to beat him, and showed in the US Open that he can do it, and given that the Madrid courts probably favour Murray even more than they do, he has a very good chance to do so, as long as the crowd doesn't affect him (lets not seriously entertain the possibility that Simon beats Nadal - he won't even get close to getting a set off him unless something horribly goes wrong)
I was *trying* to watch that on the AMSTV livestream but it was frankly unwatchable - a series of slides, sometimes with the commentary continuing, most of the time with the commentary breaking up or freezing entirely. I stuck with it in the hope that it would improve, but it didn't. Do livestreams suffer if too many people are trying to watch? I think I deserve a refund from AMSTV!
I'll go back and read the commentary on here now, to find out what actually happened
You have to fancy his chances in the final, whether it is Nadal or Simon - as long as he hasn't taken too much out of himself today.
Brilliant win for Muzza. I was worried after the first set that the US Open Final had given Fed the mental edge back in their encounters, but nothing of the sort.

Yeah, the bandwidth of the stream does suffer is too many people are watching it, especially if the internet connection isn't particularly fast.
At home I generally have to use the 450 stream to be able to watch, but up here at Uni I can use the best stream without it buffering often (it still does occasionally if it is a popular matxch)
Hopefully my commentary is good enough for you to be able to be able to understand what happened in the match
Great win for Andy. He held his nerve at critical points in the match and even served out for a win. Looking forward to the final, but Rafa ( I'm expecting), will be out for revenge for his dismissal from the USO!
