Reading in the news today (The Daily Jang) that the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) has been in contact with Maniel Bains about a possible call up to the next Davis Cup Tie against Oman due to his remarkable performance in Islamabad this week. Personally I think the guy is a total douche and I cant belive he's making points nevermind Semi's. I also hear that he is going to partener Aqeel Khan in the doubles, this should be a feisty affair as rumor has it that Bains insulted Kahn during there recent encounter.

Well, he never claimed it was his finest hour, did he? At least he wants to improve, and he's brave enough to come on as himself and talk about both the good and the bad bits if being an up and coming pro, as opposed to some new posters who just come on anonymously and slag someone off just for the hell of it ...

I agree with the Sniper, this guy 'fitzy' is ridiculous........ whats going on with his picture??? does he fancy himself as a model as well!!!!! About his picture on the front page, how about he makes top 30 in GBR before he lets those fantasies take him away!.!.!

Welcome sniper....u r more than welcome here and all r entitled to an opinion. But calling a pro tennis player a tool is not on . Fitzy is a hard working talented pro who has the backing of this forum. Any more and the post wil be deleted...then ip ban if u persist. I would rather have u contribute positively.

Think its time people stopped writing anonymously and just had the balls to slag him off to his face.
We all like a sob story, but this too much.
We all have reasons why we lost, hit good or poor form, and have to battle to get funding, but end of the day you get what you deserve.....did I deserve funding after climbing from 1000 to 580 in 2 months, yes i did. Did I deserve it after not capitalising, and poor form for 6 months? Not in Pauls opinion, so fair enough I started working harder.....and stopped bitching.
I agree it wouldnt of been his finest hour against the big Russian. I had one of my worst matches aginst the same guy (all be it I won in straights) So i can relate to Fitzy.
Been speaking to Bains said hes chilling by the pool tonight reflecting on his week, taking positives out of it. Also been playing some playstation with Feavs, having "epic" battles on Pro evo

May I suggest deleting the post without waiting for further cause? Anonymous postings using offensive language about other participants don't really belong on this board, do they?

I rather suspect at least some of them are other players employing an infantile sense of humour. It wouldn't be the first time.

its been good to read all of fitzys posts this week, so thanks for that i hope the next two tournaments go well for you - i think i speak on behalf of everyone when i say that i have gained alot of respect for you over the past wekk, btw whats the deal with you and villa?

nice to see edward back, why no play recently? hope your not injuured??

I hope Fitzy continues to update with news from Islamabad and beyond; and Edward from wherever he is too. Other contributions from British tennis players would be welcomed.

There are plenty of grumbles, variously from the general public, the players and the media, about British Tennis players not getting enough support, not achieving potential and not deserving funding.

Amongst all the positives and success stories there will still be a lot of 'close but not quite yet' players who've yet to come good. Whether it's through a change in training, funding or whatever it's daft to think everyone succeeds at a set stage in their lives.

Believe me - hearing it from the guys who are out there slogging for a point here and there, week in week out, is fascinating for those of us who DO support them. Some of us can't, and never could, play but we love watching and cheering on British players - even if it means a 400mile day-trip to Craiglockhart. Or being one of 3 supporters at the Sutton Challenger!

The mealy-mouthed anonymous posters do themselves no credit whatsoever.
Why don't you have the guts to name yourselves and tell us what you've been up to???
Have you been winning tennis matches or caught any nobroaches or rats lately???
