Haven't posted much this season as I've been very busy at work and with life in general, but when I signed up for this forum about 3 years ago, it was in anticipation of days like this.
Well done Andy Murray, and thank you!
Next stop a Grand Slam title! (Oh, and maybe a little medal before that! Anyone know what the Beijing courts are like?)
I think I'll treat myself to a single malt!
Thanks also to all of you who keep me up to date and informed, you're efforts are greatly appreciated.
Well done to Murray for winning... that's the first thing to be said, although a bad choke at the end of the 2nd set, and only 2 DF's from Djoko helped him out in the tiebreak.
Some great points at times in the match, but at times it was very low quality stuff, with Djokovic hitting 54 UE's and Murray 43, and nowhere that many winners from either player (30 and 15 I think it was on the stats with Djoko hitting 30)
Murray played a good match, but nothing special, and the performance against Moya in the final 2 sets, Karlovic and maybe even parts of the Querrey/Tursunov match were better... Djokovic though was horrible for the majority of the match but spliced in some good games... a bit like last week.
Murray did enough to win though, as Djoko gifted him the TB with the DF's and some bad errors, and Murray tried to give them back ith some equally poor shots.
This match will always be remembered for Murray winning the title... but no-one will remember it as a great tennis match, as it was far from that for the most part!!!
I haven't watched any of hte other matches from this week, but I thought Andy played really really well today. Most especailly in the mental game, his shot selection was good and there were only a couple of obligatory muppet dropshots (even a couple of good drops!!). These last two weeks have been excellent from Murray and I'm over the moon for him. Bring on Bejing and the US Open!!
