RE: Toronto 2008 R3 - Murray v Wawrinka

Horrible match... at times one of the worst I've seen for a long time, with Murray moonballing and junkballing because that was all he could do to keep the ball in court, while Wawrinka just kept missing everything.

Murray didn't win the match... Wawrinka gifted it to him, although Murray was the better player, based on him not missing as much (although for a set and a bit he couldn't win a rally, it was that bad)

Djokovic next.... let's say some bakery products will be coming Murray's way if he doesn't improve

Beats his cosest rival in the rankings and race, serving out to love.

With Roddick losing, as things stand now no 6 in the race.

Whatever were we bothered about  smile.gif

Edited :  "arce" was not me trying to make a comment on either player  smile

Is it OK to come out yet?

I don't know about anybody else but I'm exhausted. He will not have to play so passively against Djokovic or it will be very painful to watch.

That was torture. Still, it's always good to win after getting a bagel.

I just noticed that the mods' names appear in light teal and bold at the bottom now. w00t.gif

Only saw the final set but that is a perfect description of it.

That sounds like all three of my posts on AM.com rolled into one, FD (I can't get activeboard to work when I have AMS TV on, so have to go 'to the other side') ... couldn't agree more.

I would say that was a Brad Gilbert special - finding a way to win when you are playing pretty badly. Without Stan's help, he'd have been a gonner. No aces - Jamie must be getting pretty worried about their match later this evening although they don't stand much chance anyway.

Does anyone remember that signature shot of Andy's - the lovely backhand down the line shot at pace? Where's it gone?

I'd forgotten about the doubles.

It might actually do Andy no harm at all to get back out on court and try and get more confidence in his game.  At least he gets to try serving better !

what signature shot...you mean the drop shot that hits the bottom of the net !!! I defo saw that one !!!

'John' is on holiday somewhere in England this week with no working internet so I have been keeping him up to date via txt...until he persuaded the barman to switch the channel to watch the match tonight....all he saw was Murray breaking Stan in the last set....lucky him !!!

The beeb report has Murray quoted as saying the wind was terrible out there-hence missed shots and the error rate.

Well, from the outside without having seen it, a win against Wawrinka is a good win, even if it is a Gilbert win ugly.

Andy generates some points back to make up for the Indianapolis no pointer.

But Djoko has to be strong favourite for the QF.
