RE: Week 30 - ATP Masters - Toronto- R2: Andy vs Thomas Johansson

Was watching the Fed match and didn't check live scores. About to turn off when I suddenly realised Andy's playing. Heck, this is going to be a very long night.

Well no, he'll still be #1 at the end of this week, but his slim chance of still being at the top after the US Open has now surely vanished.  If I'm not mistaken, will Fed not need to score 730 points + extra points Nadal gains this week more during Cincinnati and the US Open?

If Fed is hell bent on retaining that spot, I don't think Nadal can take it. There are events in LA and New Haven where he could get wild cards and absolutely no organiser in the world will refuse him!

But will he? I doubt it.

He's not doing too badly on his first serve though, (15/16) 94%

It is about time they did something about his 2nd serve because it is just embarrassing. He wins his first point on 2nd serve at the 13th attempt, to save bp.

Number 13, lucky for some.  Andy saved a break point with with 13th 2nd serve... the first point he won with it!

And he's held serve for 5-4.

9 aces in 5 games and as you said, high first serve points won. Just wonder why he doesn't go for 2 'first' serves more often.

I can't wait to see on sky sports tomorrow, how he can be 1/13 on 2nd serve, yet still managing 2 double fault!

This is hopeless! Absolutely hopeless. Broken twice already in the 2nd set

3 bps. 1st saved. 2nd saved. breaks for *1-3

Ace no 10 arrives for 30-15 but 30-40 40-40 A- 40-40 A- 40-40 A- holds for 2-3*

Lots of first serves in play this set but no impact. Managed to win that game with 2nd serves.

0-30 big chance here. 0-40. breaks for *3-3

I was watching this on masters-series tV and unless I've pressed something inadvertantly, they've stopped the feed for this match. I can get the Safin one. Now reduced to live scoring and it doesn't look good.

Edit - ha, ha, he's just broken back to love to level the score.  Ignore previous comment

Ahead 4-3*

just 2 aces so far this set compared with 9 in the first from a similar number of 1st serves in play

bp chance. Andy punishing 2nd serves this set, winning 8 of 9. But saved with a 1st serve. Another bp chance. This time against 2nd but it too is saved. After a series of 1st serves TJ holds for *4-4.

Murray 40-15 (up to 50% won on 2nd this set) and an ace to take him to 5-4*
