RE: RG R1 : Andy Murray (GBR)[10] vs. Jonathan Eysseric (FRA)

Eurosport feed goes back to showing tennis, and the first thing I see is Murray put a dropshot into the net.

Looks like it's been a horrible performance from Murray, but surely if he can get his act together and takes this into a 5th his experience/superior fitness will get him over the line.

Arka or anyone else who knows. Who is the highest player Eysseric has beaten before now?

Murray to serve - 3-5

15-0 - E backhand error after decent forehand from Murray#
30-0 - E misses second serve return
30-15 - M backhand error after E hits good backhand
40-15 - good serve, unreturnable
Game - good serve, forehand, volley winner - easy as that

Eysseric leads 5-4

Michael Mertinak, I think. He beat him in some indoor Challenger (probably Besancon) last year.

Meanwhile, Mathieu is about to serve for the match on Chatrier to end the career of Gustavo Kuerten

Trainer is out for Eysseric, so maybe a problem with him, although it could be a way to compose himself before serving for the set again

Yep it has been. Murray looking like the less experienced one. He's not playing badly persay, more just not playing. In the second set it looked like he thought he was practising, not playing an actual match. I'm about as dismal as I've ever been when watching Murray play. What has happened to his excellent shot selection? His ability to hit every ball deep? His agressive play? All have gone out the window cry.gif

Eysseric has the trainer on court, then Murray has a chance to break and stay in the set. Hope he manages it and turns his head on but at the moment I'm not overly hopeful. And I can't see him beating anyone of a higher class playing like this. furious.gifcry.giffurious.gif

Oh, yes, he beat Vemic!

If Andy loses this, it'll be his worst result in his Tour career by a mile. Although do consider the fact that it was (or is) just a matter of time before Jon wins a Tour match. Anyway, ANdy is still the favourite.

2 sets to 1 Eysseric leads. Pathetic

Eysseric to serve - 5-4

15-0 - huge forehand wins the point when Muzza looked in control
30-0 - bh lob goes long in a point where Murray consistantly hit the service line, then a poor drop shot
30-15
30-30 - solid return but bad error from E's bh
40-30 - good serve and fh forces Murray's error
Game and set - fh winner after return hits net

Eysseric leads 2-6, 6-1, 6-4

Only seen a few games of this but Murray has just been so passive, especially as he's playing a 17 year-old - this is terrible, but still think he's going to win

I don't think that even 5% of players win the first five setter of their lives. So is Andy can take this set, he should win the fifth. pray.gif

Murray to serve - 4th set

15-0 - unreturned serve
30-0 - good point ends with big forehand
40-0 - another good serve
Game - E goes for huge winner on return and misses

Murray leads 1-0

Now that was nice, wasn't it? Do it again and get a break

Eysseric to serve - 0-1

0-15 - good aggressive tennis forces mistake from E
15-15 - murray puts midcourt fh into the stands
30-15 - lovely dropshot creates volley winner
40-15 - needless fh error from Murray]
40-30 - good attacking return draws fh error
Deuce - wild rh from E in middle of rally
Adv M - good point with deep groundstrokes lead to a dropshot winner!!!
Game Murray - E shanks a fh

Murray leads 2-0

Still not great, but a hell of a lot better - mainly Eysseric making errors
