I am both surprised and impressed that Broady (Liam, that is) is playing here, given how young he is. Hopefully he'll be able to get a few points and then he will have a nice base to build on next year.
The only disappointment is George Morgan not being here. I had always thought that he'd play these two tourneys and with a good performance he could claim a WC at Wimbly Juniors. Brother Robert is here, so I hope that George isn't injured or anything?
The younger Ren joins them next week. She can't play this week because of how selective she must be with her tournaments.
Liam qualified and in the second round of the main draw, he was playing someone ranked 600 places higher than him, so it's no surprise that he got an easy 2 and 1 victory.
Liam next plays Scott Griekspoor, who is 17 years of age and ranked 556. Given that most of his points come from two weeks he spent in Algeria, I think Liam will get an 'upset'. But then again, this is Liam's sixth match of this tournament, so he could be tired.
Unfortunately Liam lost by 4 and 4 but he's through to the doubles semis (with Bettles).
