Was Federer right about Andy's game?

Having just watched Andy today beat Meltzer, Im starting to think that Federer has a point in his criticism of the Murray game. At the start he was stood so far behind the baseline that he almost invites opponents to dominate points. I thought he played pretty poorly and Im starting to think that Andy's game may only have a short term impact in men's tennis.

If you look at Hewitt's time at the top, it was quite short lived and although he doesn't have the variety of Andy, he still plays that counter-punching game which perhaps is more demanding physically over a number of years.

When you look at Djokovic, he has become much more attacking and his tennis feels more positive. He perhaps also has energy left towards the latter stages of tournaments.

Andy serve has supposedly improved (esp against Fed) but I'm not sure it really has. This year his serving has seemed no better than in 2006 really. I really hope Andy makes some positive improvements this year and Im still not convinced that having a "team" of people with him is working. Miles M is hardly a person with a lot of big time experience!

What do you think about Fed's comments or Andy's game? Has it improved?confused.gif

I think Andy will have to cut out playing that defensively if he is ever to make it to the top, but the thing is, unlike Hewitt (perhaps) and like Fed, he can play any kind of tennis he likes, it's just a case of whether he can be bothered to on the day or not.
